#RAPIDCOMPOSER BAND IN THE BOX INSTALL#
I find that there are a large number of instructions to get ReaTrak up and running, and so haven't taken the step to install it yet, plus when I have imported configurations recently I have noticed that the export didn't capture all of my existing set up so I am unable to revert to my previous config, and end up having to re-create toolbars/menus manually etc. You mention ReaStyler in your post too, which I am not yet clear what it does. I've gone through a lot of the forum posts on ReaTrak, and seen a few videos on it, and realised that what I'm after is something like ChordPotion that you have mentioned, where you can play any chord you like, and the preset patterns will play according to the chord you hold. Many thanks for the information you've provided so far. This is so useful when songwriting and you have an idea in your head that you want to try out.

Using this functionality you can quite easily play songs live with accompanying background chords/riffs with Bass, Guitar etc tracks as well as drums. Similarly you could set up a guitar track with a riff in 'C', which would also 'receive' the chord and play the riff in the appropriate chord.ĭoes anyone know if this kind of "Auto Accompaniment" functionality can be replicated in Reaper, and if so how ( bearing in mind I have never done any Reaper scripting)? Every time you play a chord (eg 'C') this Bass track receives the chord and plays the riff in 'C', and changes the riff notes according to which chord you play. So for example the Bass 'receiver' track had a one bar pattern in 'C' (eg a simple riff in the 'C' chord). * Other tracks had a 'receiver' which received the chord from above, and applied the chord to this track and played the pre-programmed riff. * Left Hand instrument track has a 'transmitter' which recognises the chord you play The way it used to work (using Max4Live in Ableton) was: The drum track isn't necessarily an issue as it doesn't change chords. This then leaves you with being able to play a separate patch/sound with your right hand, which would normally be a melody line, and independent of what you're playing with your left hand. So if you press a 'C' chord, the background bass/guitar/chords play their own riffs in 'C', and the riffs change chord ever ytime you change the chord with your left hand.

Using Ableton I was able to replicate the functionality you get with some hardware keyboards (aka Auto Accompaniment) where you play a chord with your left hand, and the keyboard plays a background beat along with bass/guitar according to whichever chord you've pressed with your left hand. I've already googled this question but come up with nothing so far:
